Environmental and disposal issues surrounding the use of Class B foam concentrates have been an increasing concern over the last few years. The foam concentrates used in the ICAF SYSTEM are biodegradable. For specific foam concentrate technical data, consult the appropriate manufacturer technical datasheet posted on our website.
Because compressed air foam solution is comprised primarily of air, the inherent low foam and water requirements provide for maximum fire suppression performance with minimal environmental impact. For any given application, ICAF SYSTEMS are designed to use approximately 4 times less water, and 2 to 6 times less foam concentrate in comparison to foam-water sprinklers.
However, as with any substance, care should be taken to prevent discharge from entering ground water, surface water, or storm drains. With advance notice, foam solution discharges can be treated by local biological sewage treatment systems. Since facilities vary widely by municipality or location, disposal should be made in accordance with federal, state or provincial, and local or municipal regulations. Consult the Systems ICAF Datasheet or contact one of our Sales Representatives for more details.
